Concorde Club's first ever Jazz Cruise
on board
P&O's Artemis!
Saturday 21 March - Monday 6 April 2009
We're back!
|
The Concorde Club's Cruise on the Artemis to the Caribbean was hailed a great success
by all who sailed on her!
The party started at the Concorde Club on Friday 20 March with a Caribbean feast in the Moldy Fig with a flavour of all that was to come. Everyone had a chance to meet one another & the fun began!
We flew to Montego Bay, Jamaica to join the wonderful ship, Artemis

After a long days travel, everyone had a chance to unpack, unwind & have a brief look around the ship - our home for the next 2 weeks. We were ordered to attend our Muster stations with our life jackets for a full briefing & later that evening the ship set sail as everyone's heads hit the pillow for a good night's rest
ready to start afresh
A day at sea was the perfect start for everyone to 'find their sea legs' & acquaint themselves with the day to day runnings of the ship. The ship's daily journal 'Horizon' was delivered with the days event listings - everything from quizzes to dance lessons, talks to deck games, West End style shows to cabaret....
not forgetting of course the JAZZ!
You could be busy every minute of the day if you so wished or your could chill out in the sun - or combine the two with a jazz jammin' session in the sun by the Crystal Pool!
'
Julian Marc-Stringle, Chris Walker, Digby Fairweather & Kenny Ball plus the Chris Walker Swingtet
Poolside jammin'!
Each day brought its own story whether on board or visiting the different
islands. Throughout the cruise we spent time at
Catalina Island, Tortola, St Maarten, St Lucia, Antigua & Madeira.
All those on board
I'm sure will agree that it was a very magical & special trip - great for jazz - with so many new followers as well as the stalwarts!
Much fun was had on board at the various
parties & events - The Concorde were always the last to bed & the first to breakfast!
Thank you to Chris Walker for organising all the musicians - What a fabulous line up headed by the wonderful Kenny Ball
- & thank you to all at P&O for helping us make
it a trip of a lifetime. We look forward to the next Jazz Cruise!
